CNC and Laser support for the Toy SIG

Special Interest Group that meets to work on 3D printing and laser engraving.

At 9am on Wednesday at a carving studio in Reno, members choose their own project from available patterns and cutouts, and carve until noon. Logged-in MEMBERS can click on VIEW for more details.

Scrollers meet 2pm on Wednesday. Registration required to reserve a scroll saw. Although their are specific project at each meeting, generally members meet to show and tell about their projects, learn from others, and engage in common projects using a fully equipped shop with multiple Scroll Saws and dozens of project patterns. Non-members are always invited to attend a meeting and audit the group.

WAVEY – BOARD CLASS

CHRISTMAS is coming fast. Here are great presents for your spouse or other loved one!

This class each participant will be making 2 wavy long grain board. You will construct the following from hardwoods. 1. Cutting Board, 2. Charcuterie Board or 3. Serving Board. All materials other than finish will be included.

This is a two-day class on Thursday, November 12th, and Tuesday, November 17th. Class be from 10:00 to 2:00 both days at the Clubhouse.

We will be using the table saw, router, bandsaw, sanders, etc.

Tuition is $40.00 payable upon registration on the website. Time permitting participants can construct a long grain board for an additional cost of $30.00.

Nevada Woodchucks is excited to begin a new partnership with the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home (NNSVH).

What are we planning?

Our first project will be a nightstand caddy, a small wooden organizer for items such as eyeglasses, a cell phone, pens, and notepaper.

We anticipate hosting up to four veterans, some of whom use wheelchairs or have other physical limitations. Our goal is to make woodworking accessible and enjoyable by adapting the project to each veteran‘s abilities. Some participants may do much of the woodworking themselves, while others may work with partially prepared components. The important thing is that everyone has an opportunity to participate meaningfully and take home something they‘ve helped create.

Each veteran will be paired with a Woodchuck instructor and will be accompanied by NNSVH staff members or support personnel.

Participants will make a picture frame from hardwood from raw lumber. You are the artist! Many design options available. Maximum art size will be 20 x 20 inches. Spline joints will be used. All materials will be provided other than finish and glass. This is a two-day class November 12 and 17 at the Clubhouse. Class starts at 10:00 both days. $35.00 payment made on website during registration. If you want to make a second frame, additional charge of $20.00 payable 1st day of class. Every 3rd & 4th Wednesday of the month, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm, woodturners meet in the shop to talk about their projects, learn from others, and engage in common projects using one of the club lathes.
All members are welcome to attend!

Join your fellow veterans in using the scroll saw to make a Christmas tree. You will leave with a decorated and illuminated decoration ready for your home or as a gift.
