Woodcarvers meet every Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 11:30 at the home workshop of Paul Volpp,
Paul's shop is located at 12570 Fieldcreek Lane in Reno.
Our members include beginning, intermediate, and advanced carvers. We work on individual as well as class projects, learn from one another, and share our finished carvings.
Visitors are always welcome! Loaner tools are available if you would like to give carving a try. Or feel free to walk around and get a feel for what we do every Wednesday!
We have had dozens of class projects since our group first started in 2002. We provide the basswood blanks (or roughouts) for these projects. We always have a finished carving (or go-by) available to use as a sample. We also have an extensive set of acrylic paints (and brushes) for you to use on your finished carving. And, of course, our experienced carvers are happy to help and answer questions for our newer carvers.
We also host seminars given by professional woodcarvers in the workshop. We have hosted over thirty seminars since the group’s inception. Check out our seminar information flyers for more details.
Sharp tools are crucial to safe carving. We have several different sharpening systems available in the workshop. We provide instruction on how to sharpen your tools, and love to get beginners started on the road to sharpness.
We hope to see you soon!
